Dewa Ruci Hotel

This time I want to share a story about a cheap hotel in Jogja. For those of you who do not really care about the well-equipped facilities and just want a place to sleep, the hotel Dewa Ruci might be one of your choice.

The hotel's location is not too strategic, although somewhat still in the city. Located near XT Square, which was once the main bus terminal in the city of Yogyakarta. Currently the bus terminal has been moved to the area Giwangan, 3 kilometers to the south of the old bus terminal.

Perhaps because once XT square is a bus terminal, the hotel is set in a Dewaruci nearby. "XT" is the acronym of "Ex-Terminal".
Because the bus terminal had moved, so this time the hotel Dewaruci fairly empty.

The hotel offers simple accommodation. There are several classes of rooms they provide. 2 we've tried are economy class and standard class. Economy class fare is Rp60,000 and Rp75,000 standard class. There is still another class that we forget the rates and amenities, but in our opinion will not be too much different. In the room there is a bathroom (the size varies depending on the class), bed (different sizes depending on the class) and a fan. Once checked in and entered the room, you'll be treated to 2 cups of hot tea and drinking water. Hotel maid will also bring a towel (which in our opinion, the material is not soft) and a little soap. Not provided food, so you have to buy food outside the hotel.

In room check-in / check-out also a drink that we can buy, for example, coca-cola and sprite. Also there is a TV, but of course you have to share a TV with the employees of the hotel.

There is no car in the hotel garage. Only provided a place for a motorcycle. Therefore it is advisable to hire a motorbike before, so you will be able to get around the city. Trans Jogja bus does not reach this area.

Where Can I Find Cheap Beer In Jogja?

A few months ago when I boarded the bus TransJogja and spoke with two tourists from Australia, they complained about hard to find shops selling beer in Yogyakarta. Whereas a few weeks earlier, there was an article in a travel website saying that Yogyakarta is the city with the cheapest beer prices in the world.

Apparently they did not know that a few weeks earlier, the Government of Republic of Indonesia through the trade ministry has just tightened the distribution of beer in society. So I explained about the new policy. I myself really do not like this policy. The minister said that the beer distribution rules intended to save the young generation from the dangers of alcohol. If the reason it is used, then the state should also prohibits tobacco. Is not smoking is also harmful to health? I understand the dangers of smoking even greater than beer. Beer does not make people drunk, because the alcohol content of beer is only approximately 4.7%. For me, this beer prohibition only to satisfy and accommodate Islamic party faction in parliament, who lost in the 2014 elections.
